MechIQ is a cloud-based workshop management platform designed for independent automotive garages. The service includes job management, AI-powered diagnostics and quoting, customer communications, invoicing, inventory tracking, vehicle health checks, reporting, and integrations with accounting software.
By signing up for MechIQ, you ("the Garage", "you") agree to these terms. "We", "us", and "MechIQ" refer to MechIQ, an Irish company (CRO registration pending).
One account per garage: Each subscription creates a separate, isolated tenant. Your data is completely separated from every other garage on the platform at the database level.
Admin responsibility: The garage administrator is responsible for managing staff accounts, permissions, and ensuring that users comply with these terms.
Security: You are responsible for keeping login credentials secure. Let us know immediately if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
Accurate information: You agree to provide accurate business information (business name, VAT number, contact details) and keep it up to date.
MechIQ is designed for legitimate automotive workshop management. You agree not to:
Use the platform for any purpose other than managing an automotive repair or service business
Attempt to access another garage's data or circumvent security measures
Reverse-engineer, scrape, or extract data from the platform beyond your own garage data
Use the AI features to generate misleading or fraudulent quotes or diagnoses
Resell, sublicense, or share your MechIQ account with another business
MechIQ is a monthly subscription service. Pricing is per garage, with tiers based on the number of technicians. Current pricing is published on our website.
Early subscribers may receive a founding rate — a discounted monthly price locked in for the lifetime of your subscription, as long as it remains active. Founding rate terms will be confirmed in your signup agreement.
Subscriptions are billed monthly in advance. If payment fails, we will notify you and provide a 14-day grace period before suspending access. Your data is never deleted due to a payment failure — only access is paused.
We will give at least 30 days' written notice before any price increase takes effect. Founding rate subscribers are not affected by general price increases.
This is simple and non-negotiable:
You own your data. All customer records, vehicle data, job history, invoices, quotes, and communications entered into MechIQ belong to your garage.
We have a licence to process it. By using MechIQ, you grant us a limited licence to store, process, and transmit your data solely for the purpose of providing the service (including AI analysis, SMS delivery, and accounting sync).
You can export at any time. Your data is available for export in standard formats (CSV, JSON) whenever you need it. No lock-in, no export fees.
MechIQ uses artificial intelligence to assist with vehicle diagnostics, work plan generation, parts estimation, quote creation, and customer communications. These AI features are advisory tools — they are designed to help your staff work faster, not to replace professional judgement.
AI-generated diagnostics, quotes, and work plans are recommendations, not definitive assessments. A qualified technician or front-of-house staff member must review and approve all AI outputs before they are acted on or sent to customers.
MechIQ is not liable for decisions made based on AI recommendations. The garage is responsible for verifying all work performed on customer vehicles.
AI accuracy improves over time through cross-garage learning, but no AI system is perfect. Parts estimates in particular may not reflect exact pricing or availability.
The platform: MechIQ owns all rights to the software, design, branding, and documentation. Your subscription grants you a licence to use the platform — it does not transfer ownership of any part of it.
Cross-garage learning pool: The anonymised shared knowledge pool (fault code + vehicle type + confirmed outcome) is owned by MechIQ. No garage can claim exclusive rights to anonymised diagnostic patterns. This is what allows every garage to benefit from the network's collective experience.
Your content: You retain all rights to your garage's data, branding, and any content you upload (logos, photos, documents).
We aim for 99.9% uptime and will do our best to keep MechIQ available at all times. However, we cannot guarantee uninterrupted service. Planned maintenance will be communicated at least 48 hours in advance via in-app notification.
We are not liable for downtime caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including internet outages, cloud provider failures, cyber attacks, or force majeure events.
To the maximum extent permitted by Irish and applicable law:
MechIQ's total liability to you for any claim arising from the use of the service is limited to the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including lost profits, lost data (beyond our obligation to maintain backups), or business interruption.
We are not liable for decisions made based on AI-generated recommendations. The garage is responsible for all work performed on customer vehicles.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, gross negligence, or anything that cannot be excluded under Irish law.
MechIQ subscriptions are on a 30-day rolling basis. You can cancel at any time through your account settings or by emailing us. Your access continues until the end of your current billing period.
After cancellation, your data remains available for export for 30 days. After that, it is permanently deleted from our systems (except financial records retained for tax compliance and anonymised learning data).
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, fail to pay after the grace period, or use the platform in a way that puts other garages' data or the platform's integrity at risk. We will always notify you first and give you a chance to resolve the issue, except in cases of serious security threats.
These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Irish courts. If you are based in the UK, nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights under UK consumer or business law.
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via an in-app notification to all garage administrators at least 30 days before taking effect. Continued use of MechIQ after the notice period constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. If you do not agree with a change, you may cancel your subscription before it takes effect.
The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version.
